Goodnight Irene, Bloodlines, Hand Drawn Maps, Art in the Woods, The Stones Collaboration....so much happening in Emanuel County these days. Art and community, community and art...things seem to be coming together.
I am sitting at Jacks Java Cove in Swainsboro, enjoying their new hours- 7-7 Mon-Fri and 10-2 on Saturday. Sipping a cup of Kona, listening to the door open and close with friends passing through. Enjoying the art on the wall. Jason McNicoll's exhibition Goodnight Irene is currently hanging at Jacks Java Cove. An exploration of motion, the landscape after nightfall, compositions that embrace negative space. The show will be up until mid April. Melissa Cartaya is also exhibiting locally, her exhibition titled 'Hand Drawn Maps' is on display at the Kalmanson Gallery. A mixed media love affair has covered the wall in 2D works draw you in and around the space. These pieces are celebrated with installations placed throughout the galleryspace- inviting, enticing, pulling you in. Intricate and loose, the works takes you on a ride and calls you back for more. The Kalmanson is open from 10-2 Monday thu Friday- swing on by and follow the Hand Drawn Maps. Bloodlines, family, rich in history, personal and private, now offered for public consumption, contemplation, cauterization...theres alot of history on them there walls. A exhibition that reflects the pallette of juror Kristin Casaletto, Bloodlines is a thorough exploration of lineage. From photographs to paintings, boxes to video the exhibition is smorgasboard of media and fingerprints. The show is certainly worth stopping by Gallery RFD and viewing. Art in the Woods is going to happen very soon. March 24 in the woods of Stillmore, Georgia. The Roots are busy, building galleries, building dreams. And, Bryan, had built the...well, it may be a suprise...so, I'll leave it at...things are being built, dreams included, we'll see you there.
The Stones Collaboration is moving along, I should be making more images today and sending some items out this afertoon. For everyone participating, thank you for making this collaboration happen. The Postmaster and myself are looking forward to more Stones arriving daily. Speaking of which, I need to get back to work, building that dream...
