falling flakes of snow slip furiously by,
crystals fail, and liquids slip. the moist air fills my lungs.
Another day of living. This morning the sun hung in the sky, the lower two thirds covered by dense grey clouds...the exposed upper third a glowing ember. This evening the sky is work of furious hands, moving heavily with pastel laden fingers, pushing and smearing color. and then there was twilight.
Is pluto a planet or a plutoid? When is aggression ethical?
After much effort, working and reworking, I have finally come to a decision on the Oaxaca images...thank you for your input Neil. Your insight is greatly appreciated. I will be finalizing that series over the weekend and hopefully uploading and printing by Mon. or Wed. It is odd, we were in Oaxaca, the state, for nearly the same stay as Peru, yet, I have found a much greater difficulty in creating imagery for that journey. It is as if, through being constantly on the move during our exploration, I became unable to grasp onto a paticular story line. That has been a real struggle for this series, creating imagery that reflects the Oaxaca I experienced versus simply creating photos of Oaxaca.
On other fronts, I have changed studio locations. I am supposedly no longer working at the home studio and now primarily working at the Arts Council space. I have a great spot there, a beautiful window that frames the morning light cast by the rising sun. I watch the window make the value shift, from the dark pre-morning light to the soft purple and oranges of 7am. There is a chalkboard that has allowed me to quickly scracth out ideas and find relationships in the current body of work with past work and experiences. But, there is no a/c. And, even working as early as I work, the second floor of this older building is suffocating. So, some mornings I am there, and on other mornings, I am in this little corner...typing, drawing, writing...
The ArtsEmanuel Festival is approaching. Mark you calendars- September 30. The roots will be exhibiting September 1-30 at 114 E. Main. I have a solo exhibtion in the month of October at 114 E. Main. There will also be a Guild exhibition on September 30 during the festival. Art is happening everywhere.

Awaiting new desmundo travel images. Looking foward to the upcomming shows, and enjoying the posts
Although I haven't witnessed Des in his studio, because I work at the opposite end of the day, I'm incredibly happy he is working up there now and thank him. Hang in there - fall and spring are quite tolerable, and winter you just need a few more layers... it's not like heat which is unescapable! Maybe part of my new working process will be to join you :-X ...don't hold me to that yet.
