Art in the Woods
The experience was amazing. I would like to thank all of you who were able to attend and those who sent words of encouragement as the event came, occured, and has now passed. The turnout was more than we ever could have imagined, the music was a new experience as part of Art in the Woods and it was spectacular. Walking through the pines, coming across works of art, and hearing acoustic music passing through the rows made for a wonderful experience. I will be posting pics soon. I am now preparing for our next two shows and working on an installation proposal for an exhibition in Korea.
The StillmoreRoots will soon be starting ArtCore in Swainsboro and a summer Art Camp as well. For more info on how to participate or volunteer for these programs please reference www.stillmoreroots.com.
I still need materials for a future installation- I would really like a part of that experience to be the donation of the materials through this site, so to become a part of the work itself. Those materials include:
an American Flag (cotton)
the Bill of Rights
the Decleration of Independance
the U.S. Constitution
As those of you that have followed my work may know, I have been exploring these documents and ideas for sometime now. I still have a strong faith that lies with the documents our founding fathers created to govern this nation. My exploration lies with the interpretaion of these documents through their history, from birth to the current date. The citizens of this country's awareness of these docuements and their impact on our lives.
Those who were able to see Art in the Woods were able to view the latest Sacred Space and the contents within. I am pleased to let you know that over two hundred people interacted with the space that day...taking part in the process and becoming a part of that works history and story. For those of you were able to listen to the storyteller/performance aspect of that piece, thank you for lending an ear and your time. Please, carry the story with you, as you now hold an experience we have shared together.
Keep your eyes posted for more art, the rapid sucession of upcoming shows has limited my ability to post and resond as regurally as I like to do. Know that I am here- still working, still listening, still living.
The Art in the Woods Annual Country Croquet Tourney was a huge success this year at the pondhouse; people were in the pond, in the bryers, on the dam, in the ant beds, under the picnic table, and the list could go on. The StillmoreRoots will be hosting a fund raising tournament for our summer art programming. I will be looking for sponsors to put their money on me for the event! Please help support the cause and put your faith in me to bring the gold home! The StillmoreRoots are also fundraising for Relay for Life in Swainsboro- we will be sending out letters for your kind donations in the near future- help fight cancer!
Thank you again, to all who contributed their thoughts, time, and travels to making it out to and thinking about Art in the Woods '06! The event could not happen without you!
